VIGO COUNTY JAIL

Well, hello every one! Its great to be back. A few years ago, I got myself in a bit of trouble. I rented a tool to do some work and it inadvertently did not get returned. I had no idea. About six months later, I ran into the owner of the rental company. He informed me that it wasn’t returned and i needed to pay for the tool.

I was trying to make out a payment plan to them, and guess was taking too long and got arrested for theft. Wow ! I’ve never been in trouble before for anything but traffic tickets. The penalty for this I found out was very steep, pay for the tool, fines and court cost, one year formal probation, and 120 hours of community service. You would have thought it wasn’t that serious, boy wasIi wrong.

I completed all of the terms except, I had a problem with my paperwork for my community service. I went to my final court date, at least I thought. I guess the judge has heard every excuse known to man and then some. because the judge ordered me to do it over. I soon found out that I was way to busy , and I thought the paper work would somehow fix its self. again WRONG!!!

I just so happened to run in with a law enforcement officer, and what do you know, I had a warrant for probation violation . They take that very serious in Indiana ! I was arrested on a Friday evening . My bond was set at 25,000 dollars no ten percent, no bondsman. Held for court on the following Monday . i thought for sure i’d explain everything in court and I would be going home. Whats that word “WRONG”. I never had a chance to say anything, held for court the following Thursday.

Thursdays court was to get a lawyer. yeah he was real nice. NOT !. They then set another hearing for two weeks from that date. I was starting to get a little worried. The jail was way overcrowded. and two people I met, got lost in the system, and had been in there for months.

Finally two weeks later, I was sitting in the courtroom on a chain gang, waiting for court to start. I was looking pretty scraggly, from not having a comb, a regular shave once a day, and I was a nervous wreck. I was unsure what was going to happen.

I could see my attorney across the room texting. I thought to myself , he needs to get to work and get me the hell out of here !!!!!! He started walking across the room and as he approached the chain gang I heard say a name and I was pretty sure he said mine. I was right, Mulkins he said. he walked in front of me and started showing me the text on his phone. Can you read that, he said. I thought what the hell is this guy doing.

I actually couldn’t read it , I didn’t have my glasses on . As I grabbed them from my shirt all kinds of things were going through my head. was he showing me a joke ? Did he somehow hear what I was thinking? Not at all ! The two sweetest words I have ever read in my life TIME SERVED ! I think I just about had a heart attack from the excitement and scared to death at the same time. finally I answered him and thanked him for his help. He wasn’t playing on his phone , he was getting me the hell out of there. Thank God.

I spent a total of 21 days in jail.I never ever want to do that again! I did meet a bunch of interesting people. A couple i’d like to mention. One guy, to me , a future writer. He wrote letters to every part of government that is known to man trying to get released. It was amusing. I joked to him and said, I need to start a blog about county jail. I asked him to write me an article about his case .His grammar wasn’t that great but content. Wow ! The next morning I was reading ten page!!

The other guy was arrested two yrs ago for just about the same thing I was there for, and was released on his own recognizance awaiting trial. He got drunk and was arrested for public intoxication. when he went to court , The judge revoked his O R BOND, and he’s still there awaiting trial. His trial is in July. He is a young guy in his twentys. He also had a hearing aid and his leg was badly damaged from a fall from 35 ft. He sure liked to walk. We walked lap after lap around the day room and talked and talked. I hope he gets out soon and we continue to be friends. great guy .

It is nice to be sitting at my computer writing and working. I learnt a lot from being in jail and I believe the word procrastination is one I’ ll never forget. I haven’t decided if I’m blogging about jail or not im still trying to get everything caught up !!

How I Made $600 With 1 Hot Wheels

redline collection 500x126 How I Made $600 With 1 Hot Wheels

Collection of Redline Hot Wheels

I firmly believe that everyone should have a collection of some sort that they cherish. There are literally millions of things someone can collect – stamps, vintage toys, video games, coins, etc. The list goes on and on! However, one thing that I want to mention, is that you should collect something that you like and something that can make you some money. No one wants to put time and money into something that is just thrown away. Many people start collections as a way to invest for the future or to hand down to someone special. No matter what your objective is, I strongly suggest that you collect something that will have some type of value in the future.

Personally, I collect vintage hot wheels redlines. These are toys that were made in the late 60′s and early 70′s. They also have red lines in the wheels, which is why they are referred to ask redlines. There are literally hundreds of different castings (types of cars) and hundreds of different colors. This is also a HUGE money market for redlines in great condition. Condition and color are the 2 factors that make a car sell for $10 or $1,000! This is a very interesting hobby and I have learned many things and also made some good cash from it.

Over the years, I have learned about redlines that are valuable. If you have a collection, make sure to learn everything you can and you might have a similar story to mine. I spent many hours researching and learning the difference a rare redline and an OK one. This has provided me with the knowledge to look at a redline and evaluate it easily. This has also made me money many times in the past and I hope it continues in the future.

A few years ago I came across a person who was selling a very rare redline. If you come across an instance where you find a rare item, I suggest that you contact the person and ask them if they want to sell it and ask them how much money they want for the item. This is the easiest way to purchase an item and also makes BOTH parties involved very happy. I contacted the person and asked him if he is interested in selling the car. I knew it was rare, but was not too sure about its value. He said he would sell the car for $100 – I agreed and bought the car. A few years later, I needed some cash so I decided to put it up on eBay. I started the auction at.99 with no reserve. During the last minute, the auction was already at $200 – during the last 20 seconds, the prices skyrocketed. My auction went from $200, to $400 within the last 10 seconds. As I watched the remaining seconds of the auction, my eyes seemed to be deceiving me – the prices rose from $400 to $500 – and then FINALLY stopped at $685! I could NOT believe it! I had no idea this car would sell for so much and this was really the ending price! The seller quickly paid me, got the car and left great feedback!

This was a very exciting day and only pushed me harder to keep searching and learning as much as I possibly could about redlines. This is a perfect example for ANYONE to follow. If you put time and effort into learning something, then everything is possible! If you don’t know what to collect I suggest looking for different price guides and I’m sure you will find something of interest which can be quite profitable.

Hot Wheels Guide for Newbie Collectors

When it comes to toy cars and collectibles, there is no other greater name than Hot Wheels. As a matter of fact, the brand is an American icon and a legend in the entire toy industry. This classic die cast toy is widely considered as the most popular and preferred collectible toy in the entire history. While that premise could be debatable, it’s no secret that it is a legend on its own.

2013 01 04 22.47.461 500x375 Hot Wheels Guide for Newbie Collectors

Larry Wood World Tour Hot Wheels 35 yrs of design

One of the best things about this car toy collection is that they aren’t just intended and popular for children and kids, they are also quite interesting for adults, especially when it comes to collecting the same. There are so many adult individuals who boast collecting more than ten thousand of these toy cars and they are classified into three important categories.

This Hot Wheels guide will tell you that when you’re planning to collect the brand’s toy cars, you will be presented with three categorical options and these are vintage, modern, and contemporary. Vintage Hot Wheels are the very first ones to be unveiled and introduced to the consumer market. There is a consensus that any car produced before the 1980s will be considered vintage. Hence, those that were made during the 1980 to 1989 are labeled as modern and the newest, from 1990 up to the present, are referred to as the contemporary collection.

With that in mind, one of the basic things any Hot Wheels guide will give you is proper organization. You must therefore ideally choose a category based on the period of production in order to concentrate on collecting the cars belonging to the mentioned period before going to another one.

How to Begin a Hot Wheels Collection

It’s no secret that collecting this hot toy car line corresponds to maximum fun and entertainment. One of the best things in owning them is that you really don’t have to spend that much since they’re not that expensive. Hence, you get to collect a couple right away.

One of the first things you have to keep in mind is what kind of Hot Wheels do you fancy the most. Think of yourself as a separate and distinctive collector and ask: are you planning to have those toy cars as merely for display and collection or will you play with them in actuality? Remember that when you opt for playing with them, you can always prefer the loose hot wheels type since they are easier to obtain and less expensive in general.

But if you are someone looking for the rarest versions and models, majority of Hot Wheels guide and reviews online will tell you that you need to allot more money than usual. This is because there is a trend wherein the earliest models of these little cars are also the most likely to be expensive, and that’s because they’re so rare. Hence, you will normally fetch one over a $100 or even more.

In the end, having to choose Hot Wheels for collection is a very nice hobby for anyone. Just make sure you do get authentic ones without damages or deterioration.

Matchbox Cars – From Regular Wheels To Superfast by David Bryan

As far back as I can remember Matchbox cars have been a part of my life. Spending a huge part of my allowance for a new Matchbox car was my highlight of the week when I was a kid. Those early cars in my stockpile are long gone now; after all they were bought to be played with. Most, if not all of them, had been annihilated in some manor. Some of them succumbed to the bench vice torture method, some suffered a fiery demise. I have been collecting Matchbox diecast cars on a more serious level for near abouts 20 years, and have collected well over 4000 miniature variations of these timeless treasures. I will go over the two most common types of Matchbox cars that I currently collect. They include the Regular wheels and the Superfast models

The early, pre-Superfast Matchbox miniature toy cars were referred to as the “Regular Wheels” line. Regular wheel types range from metal to plastic type wheels and would be crimped or mushroomed on to the car axle. Early Matchbox models with plastic regular wheels were made colored in silver, grey, or black,

by the end of 1965 to 1969 most models would be fitted with black plastic wheels. The chrome disc hub wheels appeared on a few model cars starting in 1968 thru 1969. Eventually, due to the competition from Mattel Hot Wheels, Lesney had to change to a low friction style wheel, also known as “Superfast”. At this time collectors believe Matchbox was starting to become more “toy-like” as they transitioned on into the Superfast years.

In late 1969 models were starting to be produced with the Superfast wheels. In 1970 some of the miniatures manufactured in the ’60s were changed to Superfast wheels and are also now known as transitional cars. The term “Superfast” refers to the low friction wheels and axles used in this series of Matchbox toy cars. To be competitive with Hot Wheels cars, Matchbox designers needed to come up with a idea to replace the normal high friction plastic wheels from the earlier days. The regular wheel models used a 1.6 mm axle, which were forced onto plastic wheels, and then mushroomed or pinched to keep the wheel from falling off.mustanng Matchbox Cars From Regular Wheels To Superfast by David Bryan

The Superfast wheel models now use a 0.6 mm axle, and they use special plastic for the wheels that reduce friction between the axle and wheel. The “Superfast” series had been born. You will also notice the style of some vehicles have also changed, as they have become more “toy like” drifting away from the model designs of the fifties and sixties. By the early eighties some Matchbox models were being manufactured in Asia.

A small look into my next post.

The headline read “AMMO TRAIN BLOWS UP”. A day after one of the biggest ammunition train explosions in history. Newspapers from all over the united states including life magazine published stories about this tragic event.

Lewis In. formerly know as Centerville, on the far southeast corner of Vigo County, in Indiana. At the time of this explosion there were 275 residents of Lewis. Over a hundred of the residents were attending an Eastern Star Installation at the Masonic hall. Lucky for them they were well away from the explosion.

Paul Morse, the man they called Paul Revere after the crash, lived about 2 blocks from where the track separated and the train exploded. His parents also lived the same distance, but on the other side of the tracks. After getting his wife and two kids to safety, Paul rushed around and warned the neighbors. All the newspapers Detroit Free Press, New York Times, Palm Beach Post, and the St. Petersburg Times, reported that Paul lost his parents, but Life Magazine states they had just left for the filling station. Goldie died a couple of years later in 1955 and Mollie in 1974. Paul had passed away in 1982.

We will never really know how many lives he saved.

There was another train crash the day before in Pennsylvania, that involved three trains. At least 22 people killed. That wreck, was caused by an 18 in round pipe, 35 ft long that had bent a rail on another set of tracks, being used by a westbound passenger train. They never saw it coming. The passenger train was reportedly racing over 80 miles per hour when it hit the bent rail. The passenger train crashed directly into the freight train. A moment later another train slammed into the wreckage also running 80 mph. It s a wonder how only 22 people lost their life.

Matchbox Vs. Hot Wheels

2013 01 03 19.38.16 Matchbox Vs. Hot Wheels

Matchbox Vs. Hot Wheels

Author: Wesley Skiles

Matchbox cars were first created in England in 1952. While working for Lesney Products, owned by Leslie Smith and Rodney Smith (no relation), die-caster Jack Odell created the first ever Matchbox car. It was a brass Road Roller made small enough to fit into a match box, at the request of his daughter. She wanted to take something to school for show and tell but school rules mandated that all items had to fit into a match box. The first line of Matchbox cars was sold by the Lesney company in 1953 with the #1 Road Roller, #2 Dumper and #3 Cement Mixer. New cars were added to the existing line each year until the line reached 75. (The line was increased to 100 in 2008 but let’s stick to history for now.)

In 1967 Mattel, well known for its most popular toy, Barbie, began to develop their own line of die-cast toy cars. This line, called Hot Wheels, came out with its first series in 1968 with 16 cars. When sales were ten times more than expected, they added 24 more cars for the 1969 line. Continued sales caused the line to grow to 73 cars in 1970 and then 108 in 1971. With all of this growth, the Matchbox cars by the Lesney company struggled to keep up. In 1982 the Matchbox car line was sold to Universal Toys, who later sold it in 1991 to the well know Tyco company. Over the years Matchbox and Hot Wheels were the only two significant competitors in the die-cast toy car saga and therefore even viewed as rivals. Ironically, in 1996, Mattel bought the Matchbox product line from Tyco. Hot Wheels and Matchbox were now owed by the same company but continue to live on as two lines of toy cars.

CLASSIC ’71 PLYMOUTH

Having grown up with dozens of toy cars as a child, and having two young sons with cars themselves now, I have done much research (playing) with both the Hot Wheels and Matchbox brands. In recent years, the Hot Wheels line has obviously become the favorite of many collectors and children, and some even consider the Matchbox cars to be of lesser quality and design. In fact, go into any store that sells the cars and compare the selection of Hot Wheels to Matchbox. In the way of individual cars, Hot Wheels displays almost always out number Matchbox ten to one easily. However, one observation that I have made in buying cars for my sons is the drastic difference in style between the two lines. The vast majority of Hot Wheels cars are not modeled after or painted like actual cars. Many of them are variations of actual cars or new creations all together. In fact, I personally have a few Hot Wheels in my collection that are shopping carts or toilets with wheels. Other cars by Hot Wheels are often painted with much graphic and text details. Matchbox on the other hand is entirely ‘normal’ cars. The majority of cars in their line are ones you are likely to see on the street. The models are one or two tone painted, rarely with added graphics or text. One of the benefits of this is that you are more likely to find police cars, fire trucks, tow trucks, utility vehicles etc, with Matchbox than with the Hot Wheels line.

Spiderman

Matchbox cars were the beginning. Hot Wheels brought in high quality and enormous sales. Now, between the two lines of cars, you can find just about any custom or actual car imaginable. Die-cast cars have been a huge part in the lives and many children and are becoming huge in the realm of collectors. (One might wonder if these two groups are the same people!) I have heard some argue that die-cast cars are now primarily for collectors and are a thing of the past as children’s toys.  I can only respond by stating that my two sons have much more fun playing with their 100+ cars than they do buying and looking at them. I also must admit that I’m glad that I have two sons so that I can still play with die-cast toy cars at age thirty!

The Geatest Find, Living In Our Train Depot In Lewis IN.

2013 01 14 17.13.09 The Geatest Find, Living In Our Train Depot In Lewis IN.

Train Depot

I want to share with you my greatest find of all. Our train depot. About two years ago, a friend of mine and a co-worker kept trying to introduce me to one of his friends. Her name is Vicki Collins. At the time I was dating this girl who really had no interest in me except for how big my wallet was. I wasn’t really interested in another relationship. So i kept blowing him off.

Finally he told me she needed some help putting in an air conditioner and since I lived nearby, would I stop by there and give her a hand. He gave me her phone number and i decided to call her that evening. When she answered, I told her who I was and what I wanted and she said, no, I think its to late this evening. I kinda figured he had tried to talk me up to her. With that response, I thought, o k then, a little less work tonight.

About a week later, Jim, a friend of mine, and his girlfriend were over and we were sitting around talking and Vicki’s name came up. That day it must have been at least 100 degrees out. I told Jim, I think I’ll give her a call and see whats up. When she answered, it seemed like she was very enthused that I called. We discussed how hot it was and she asked if I would come over and set the unit. Jim and I and his girlfriend loaded up and headed over.

I had been through Lewis before but had never stopped there or had ever worked in the town before. Lewis is a small town in west-central In. The kind of town that you just drive through to get somewhere else. I never dreamed it had so much history. I plan on covering some of that history in my next article.

2013 01 13 17.58.421 The Geatest Find, Living In Our Train Depot In Lewis IN.

Vicki’s House (was an old school-house three stories tall)

We finally arrived at her house. I couldn’t see too much because it was so dark out. Ms. Vicki answered the door and wasn’t what i expected. My friend, Shane, Had said she was a blonde and a little “augmentation” and was smoking’ hot. Well when she answered the door, she had her hair up, it was brown, didn’t see any sign of “augmentation”. Come to find out she had just got off work, landscaping and was filthy. She showed us to the window and then to the air conditioner and we began our work. In the meantime, Ms. Vicki went to take a shower.

Jim and I inserted the air conditioner and waited on her to get out of the shower. We waited and waited til Jim finally said are you ready to go. After smelling the scent a freshly showered women that was coming from the bathroom , I replied , well lets wait a few minutes. I hadn’t smelt anything that even came close to that in a very long time.

Well after about an hour, it seemed, Vicki finally at last decided she looked good enough to present herself to company. Now were talking! Shane wasn’t all wrong, WoW! We ended up staying for a few hours talking and having a few cocktails.

As I sat there looking around, I saw a few antiques and she politely gave me some history on some of it. She told me how her house used was an old three-story school-house and the house behind the house was an old train depot. I t was intriguing, so i ask and asked her if we could go take a look. We went out side and when she flipped the security light on , I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was awesome. An old train depot, right in her backyard.

Vicki pointed out the stained glass windows and the chimney. And told me that the train depot was actually moved there around 1972-73. I haven’t been able to find too much info on who moved it here. I do know, Jim Collins, also known as J.C. who was former President of the DIABLOS MOTORCYCLE CLUB, and Vicki’s late husband, purchased it from the Gardner’s around 1980. His plans were to hire a helicopter to lift it off its foundation and move it to a piece of property in the country between Lewis IN. and Hymera IN. In 1997 after a car accident, J.C. contracted some type of kidney cancer and never realized his dream.

Vicki And J.C. Summer Of 1997 (west of the depot behind the church) PIC BY RIP DEC. ’97 EASYRIDERS

Well, no worries J.C. I’m gonna make sure the train depot and Ms. Vicki , are well taken care of. Needless to say, Vicki and I had dated for about three months and by this time we decided to move in together. I ended up moving from a small trailer in Hymera to her house, the old school-house, in Lewis. It didn’t take long to figure out Vicki was the pack rat.

The first time she took me inside the train depot, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The place was full to the ceiling with all kinds of stuff. You had to crawl over stuff that was on top of stuff that was on top of even more stuff just to get to the master bedroom. Winter was setting in and it was gonna be a long and drawn out process of getting this place ready to move in.

Over the next few months we just kept chippin’ away at it. We couldn’t have done it without some of our friends helping out. we had Gina, a real good friend of both of ours.

When we weren’t busy working, my son John, pictured here with his son Gage and my nephew Danny spent some time clearing the front room and kitchen.

“ME”

Another friend of ours, Cindy, spent about two weeks helping Vicki scrubbing the walls down and packing clothes. It honestly took so long, I never thought we were gonna get done.

Our goal was to get it clean enough and make sure the electric was still a-1, so we could at least move in the bedroom, without getting sick or burning up in a fire. I did forget to mention, the place hadn’t been lived in since 2003. Almost 10 years ago.

Another huge obstacle that was in our way was the garage. The garage was a working gas station that sat 10 ft. behind the train depot. It dated back to the early 20′s (I think) When I started coming around the garage had already been on fire a few years before and there was nothing left except the debris and all the walls which were old school concrete blocks. the real garage was 16 ft. high. 27 block deep and 57 block long. It had started out as a Redi-Mart when it built. Between then and now it had been a few different things. J.C. used it as a working garage and a place to live out his dream of building Bikes. I wish I had pictures of what it looked like when I first saw it.

Needless to say, the code enforcement of Vigo County was on Vicki to get it down and get the debris removed. Well getting it down wasn’t a big chore. I called one of my contractor buddies, Dave Jackson, and he agreed to bring a small bulldozer, if I would pay for expenses, he would take it down and pile it up on the north end of the slab. It would be another 5 to 6 months before we would complete the project.

In the meantime, we had worked our butts off to finish cleaning it out. After emptying the train depot, I took a look around and thought this place is actually in great shape. Only one room needed painting as the rest of the walls are constructed of 2 in. knotty pine tongue and grooved planks that over the years were very well-preserved.

We started in the master bedroom, cleaning the windows and scrubbing the walls and wiping down all the trim with a mixture of Murphy’s oil soap and water. I’d say we spent about three days getting it ready for paint. Finally we got around to Lowe’s and picked out our paint. we decided on a cross between Indianapolis Colts blue and a Kobalt blue.

Just so happened I worked in a carpet store so getting the carpet at cost was a very good perk. Vicki came to town and started looking through everything we had in stock, and we had a lot in stock, and finally decided on a retro style carpet that looked like it was a blue and white. After installing it you could actually tell it was more of a brown and white but fit in perfect. The master bedroom used was the old baggage area and still has the sliding rail door all still in tact. We finally finished the master and took a second to sit back and ponder. I was thinking, that if this room turned out this good, then the rest of this place will be gorgeous.

Even though the well pump was down we decided to move our bedroom furniture in and start staying there. The school-house was only about 100 ft door to door and we walked the track everyday to shower and use the bathroom. Vicki spent the next two to three weeks hanging from the rafters literally wiping down every sq. in. of the remaining down stairs. When she finished those areas up and the other piece of carpet was layed we finished moving in. it was beautiful!!

We still had to figure out what to do about the pump in the well, so we called in a well company to check it out. When they arrived, they unloaded their equipment and began to run a camera down the well. After about thirty minutes, they pulled the camera out and informed us that the well could not be used ,due to all the wire and pipe and the old pump in just an array from someone trying to replace the pump. Apparently someone was trying to replace the pump, got it about two-thirds of the way up and the wiring and pipe came apart and went crashing down to the bottom.

We could do one of two things hire someone to retrieve the old pump or just hook in to the pump of the other house. Vicki was pretty apprehensive about that idea but the well guy assured her it was sufficient enough to handle both households. Boy was he right.

We purchased a pool this past summer when the drought was going on and filled it from water stations in Jasonville and Clay City. We had tried using a salt water system with the pump and I ended up getting way to much salt in it. I had to drain it. this pool holds about 5500 gallons of water and boy was i dreading the fact of making those trips again. That evening I decided to put the hose in for a while and maybe save a trip or two. Well I got busy and forgot about it. The next morning, I was getting ready to head into work and it dawned on me, I had left the hose on all night ! I just knew I had run the well dry or burnt the pump up. I headed over to the pool and to my amazement, the pool was full. I pulled out the hose and it was still running strong after 10 hours. We hadn’t seen rain in over 7-8 weeks. 5500 gallons overnight WOW !! Heck we could supply the town. After bragging about it to the neighbor, it wasn’t long before his well went dry and he asked if he could fill his 500 gallon tank up. Last summer he must have filled at least 4-5 times.

Of course its winter now and we spend most of our evenings sitting in front of the wood stove watching tv and enjoying this old train depot.

I’ve posted a few pics of the inside and outside for you all to check out. My next post will be a pictorial article of the town of Lewis and if you like old train depots and think there interesting, I’m gonna start it out with some cool pictures.

Author: Edwin Joseph

Every guy loved playing toy cars on their childhood years. Actually, many of us have been collectors of toy cars since it is the usual toy for boys; other than robots! The interesting part is that no matter how grown up we are now, we always return to that past interest we had before. In reality, there are still many adults who are fond in the hobby for gathering rare redline hot wheels because they want to put in their closet what most collectors doesn’t have.

Right now, you can’t find these kinds of toys since they trend has been continuously changing and also people’s interest. Only some retail stores are offering redline hot wheels collectibles. The truth is, a lot of shops don’t sell it anymore. For collectors, the final option they have is the internet.

Once you check out the internet, you will discover huge websites which are completely catering for hot wheel collectors. Are you one of those dying to look for these vintage redline hot wheels? If yes, allow me to offer you few tips that can make your search simpler and also faster.

1.) There are specific forums which are created for toy car collections. This is a good spot to mingle with people. Either they have interest in buying collections or they might just be finding customers who could be interested in purchasing their stuff. Forums are perfect place for buying and selling. I usually buy instruments in certain forums regarding music. This holds the same for some other collectible items like toy cars. I personally see lots of redline hot wheels available on particular forum threads.

2.) Second option is auction site. Auction site has created a buzz for online shoppers. Instead of buying new (with a high price), most people shifted to buying a little bit used products (at cheaper costs). EBay for example is among the best auction site there is. It has thousands of merchants who are often selling their stuff plus a bunch of niche marketers selling in demand products.

If you use eBay’s search box, you can quickly have a list of vintage redline hot wheels along with its price comparison. You can compare costs that can help you choose which ones to bid on. Because there are lots of products being auction, you have so many collectible redline cars to choose from.

The best part is that many products are offered below $10, even for vintage collections.

Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars flourished as popular toys for decades, and continue to do so. However, in recent years, these die-cast cars have also spurred on a new realm of collecting. Toy collecting has been around for some time and those individuals naturally started to collect toy cars as well. However, there have been many individuals that got their start in, and stayed exclusively in, die-cast toy cars.

Collecting Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels is something that wide varieties of people have come to enjoy. One of the reasons for this is that most people, especially men, enjoy cars. In fact, some are ecstatic about cars. People’s love for cars naturally draws them to toy cars. People also dream of owning cars well beyond their reach, and while a die-cast car cannot be enjoyed the same way, they allow people to own their dream car. In fact, they could own dozens of dream cars.

One of the major reasons that collecting Matchbox cars and Hot Wheels became so big is because of the multiple variations of models. This is especially true of older Matchbox cars. In the process of painting a line of cars, if they ran out of paint, they would simply use extra paint left over from another run, often of a different color. This usually meant that only a small portion of that particular model was the second color, and therefore much rarer. As every collector knows, the rarer an item, the more its value goes up. Matchbox was also known, especially early on, to make other slight variations within one run similar to this. These were often due to manufacturing adjustments. There are also cases where factory workers would accidentally apply incorrect elements to the wrong model. These two facts created multiple variations of cars and are often not discovered until years later when someone realizes that their car is different.

Other variations also create rarity. Another very common one is the fact that the same model would be reissued multiple times over the years, usually with changes or improvements. These variations included graphics/paint schemes, wheels (rim style), door & hood lines and even opening parts like hoods and doors. Obviously, the older cars are worth more but occasionally flawed cars are not caught until after some make it to the stores. The numbers of these incorrect cars that make it out, depend on how fast the company catches the mistake.

Die-cast toy car companies are now also catering to the collectors with special releases and lines of cars. This is especially true of Hot Wheels. They have begun to release a ‘Treasure Hunt’ series that highlights popular past models with new paint jobs, usually chrome in color. This series releases twelve cars per year and occasionally a thirteenth that can only be received through a mail offer and proof of purchasing the other twelve Treasure Hunt models for that year. Hot Wheels also releases cars enclosed in a black blister pack, concealing the car from the buyer. These ‘Mystery Cars’ are often black themselves. One last thing that contributes to collector’s interest is the special edition cats that companies make for their employees as holiday, anniversary or special occasion gifts. It is also important to mention that some collectors are interested in models designed to replicate vehicles from other companies, race cars, farm machinery and many others.
