The McLaren M8D was a sports prototype racer produced by Bruce McLaren Motor Racing in 1970 for use in the Canadian-American Challenge Cup, or Can-Am. Designed by Bruce McLaren, the McLaren M8D was an evolution of the previous M8B, ditching the strut-mounted rear wing for a dual-finned design; it was this design element that gave the car a distinct appearance, being nicknamed "the Batmobile".
