Designed by Jiro Kono and Satoru Nozaki, the car was designed as a collaboration with the Yamaha Motor Corporation. With a design inspired by the Jaguar E-Type, the 2000GT was designed to help draw customers to Toyota and boost sales of Toyota's more affordable models. 351 were produced, with the cars easily selling for over $1 million today.
